Why One Headshot Is Not Enough

A Kansas City dentist photographed three ways: in scrubs at the practice, in a blazer by a window, and in a close portrait on white.

A headshot can be a great portrait and still struggle when the same file has to fill a LinkedIn circle, a website banner, a podcast graphic, and a speaker page. Each of those places asks the photograph to do a different job.

Why do professionals need an image library instead of one headshot?

A headshot is built to be recognized at a small size. Once someone clicks past your profile, they are looking for more: how you work, who you serve, and what it might feel like to be in the room with you.

A small, intentional image library gives you the right frame for each place people meet you. You stop forcing a tight portrait into a wide website header, or shrinking a full room photo into a tiny comment circle.

What photographs should every CEO have for their personal brand?

For most executives and founders, I start with four:

  1. A close portrait that stays recognizable in a small LinkedIn or bio circle.

  2. A three-quarter portrait with breathing room for press, board announcements, and company pages.

  3. A working or conversation photograph that shows how you lead, advise, or collaborate.

  4. A horizontal frame with open space on one side for website headers, event graphics, and quote cards.

Start with the photograph leading your introduction today. Take the Authority Image Audit™ and see what is already working before you plan what to make next.
